Thought dentures were your only option – not any more
Implants are now considered the gold standard when considering tooth replacement options.
Whether you’re missing one or all of your teeth, there’s now an exciting option that will help you smile and eat with confidence again.
Thousands of people are benefiting from this fabulous technique that can reconstruct a missing tooth without the need to include any of the adjacent teeth (unlike bridges and dentures).
CT scans may be required.
Benefits of having dental implants include:
- Replacement teeth look, feel and function like natural teeth
- Improved taste and appetite
- Improved appearance and aesthetics
- The ability to chew without pain or gum irritation like that from unstable dentures
- Increased masticatory (chewing) efficiency, thus less digestive problems
- Preservation of the jaw bone structures
- Improved quality of life
Implants are essentially titanium screws that are placed into the jawbone. After a few months the implant becomes anchored to the surrounding bone.
A natural looking porcelain crown is then attached to the implant to replace the form and function of a real tooth.
The finished result – A restoration that looks so natural, no one will know it’s there except you!
Implants can be used to stabilise dentures and bridges, and to replace just one tooth or to rebuild an entire row of missing teeth.
The best part is that they look and feel just like your natural teeth.
Most patients can receive implant based treatments in our practice – with certain cases we may decide to place the implants with one of our local implant surgeons.
We typically use a local anaesthetic and if required can also use intravenous (IV) sedation to ensure maximum patient comfort during the procedure.
Dental implants have helped thousands of people to eat, smile and speak with a renewed self-confidence. Patients who practice good oral home care and regular dental checkups can enjoy implants that can last a lifetime.
So should you have a gap where a tooth has been lost, you may wish to speak to us about the possibility of implants. We can help you decide if a dental implant is right for you – all you need to do is call dentalessence.
Some patients may not have enough bone to aid the support of implants. If this should be the case then we can place synthetic bone to aid the implant retention. This may increase the treatment time and total investment.
(some patients may not be suitable for implants without the need for bone grafting and certain medical conditions may need further assessment – we will advise you should this be necessary)
