Transform your smile
Tooth whitening – for a brighter more youthful smile
Your smile is one of your many assets! Studies have shown that your smile is one of the many things that people notice when they first meet you!
A healthy and bright smile is beautiful and can help you feel better about yourself and make a memorable impression on others.
The colour of your teeth is influenced by a number of factors – tea, coffee, red wine, smoking and certain foods.
At dentalessence we have some ideal solutions to help you achieve a whiter, healthier smile:
First see our cosmetic dental surgeons for a full assessment to check your suitability. Then see our hygienist for stain removal.
Consider the dentalessence home whitening kit (this is the safest and most predictable way of whitening – we use custom made mouth trays constructed by our team of expert technicians – and we supply you with the whitening gels with extensive instructions on their use – usually this can be done while you sleep).
Essence of Wedding Smiles

Quick Straight Teeth – Ceramic Braces
For patients who wish to align their teeth quickly but subtly, we use a system called Quick Straight Teeth.
These braces are made of bespoke tooth coloured wires and brackets making this system very aesthetic, and a major improvement to the traditional metal ‘train tracks’.
The braces are typically only used on the front 6 or 8 teeth, to correct mild misalignment and can give you a beautiful smile in as little as 4-6 months with braces which are barely visible for as little as £1800 per jaw! The price for both upper and lower jaw together is £3,400.
The treatment works much like removable aligners, but tooth movement is more predictable and more than twice as quick.
The braces put gentle pressure on the teeth to level and align the teeth with minimal discomfort. With good case selection this can be done very quickly, making it more affordable than other orthodontic options.
Standard orthodontic mechanics are still involved in the use of Quick Straight Teeth, but because it’s just the front teeth, the force required is minimal. The wires exert mild pressure to move the teeth, and this is done without the need for severe tightening which causes the discomfort noted in conventional orthodontics.

Porcelain Veneers – enhance the colour, size and shape of your teeth
Your smile is so important! – Many studies have shown that a beautiful smile is the key to personal and professional success.
At dentalessence we have created (and continue to create) many beautiful and natural smiles using porcelain veneers. These are wafer thin laboratory made porcelain facings that are bonded (glued) to the front surface of the teeth.
Using this technique we are able to change the shape and the colour of your teeth. We can also use veneers to close gaps and straighten crooked or misaligned teeth.
Porcelain veneers are an excellent way to correct worn, chipped and discoloured teeth.
They are a very popular way to improve the appearance of your teeth as they are considered one of the most conservative ways to enhance your smile.
If during your assessment we find that you have a very heavy bite, alternative clinical options may have to be discussed, for example crowns. Occasionally, veneers under these situations may fracture quite easily.

Crowns & Bridges – transform your smile
If you have a weak tooth or are missing one or more teeth, you may need a crown or a bridge respectively.
A crown (also known as a cap) sits over an existing tooth that may have been broken or weakened by a crack, and will therefore serve to return the tooth back to its former strength, function and appearance.
A crown could be used for a number of other reasons, for instance:
If you have a large discoloured filling and would like to improve the appearance of the tooth.
Following root canal treatment crowns are often indicated to protect the underlying tooth structure from fracture.
Placing a tooth over an implant can also be done with a crown.
If you are missing one or more teeth, a bridge may be fitted. There are many types of bridges, from a very conservative Resin Bonded Bridge to a conventional Fixed Bridge.
The latter design (conventional bridge) uses either a single crown or multiple crowns on either side of the missing tooth to support an artificial tooth in the middle – known as the pontic.
However there are many alternatives to replacing a missing tooth.

Composite Bonding
Offers a solution for minor damage or gaps in teeth. Bonding is usually used for filling chips, fractures or gaps between teeth, or for fixing discolouration. A composite resin is attached to a tooth and shaped to restore its original appearance. The colour of the resin is matched to your teeth, so it will appear as though it is a natural part of the tooth.
Composite bonding can usually be carried out in just one visit to the dentist. It’s a fast and effective way to fix minor cosmetic issues. The composite is hardened using UV light as soon as it’s applied, resulting in a tooth that can comfortably bite down by the end of the appointment.
Bonding is also a non-invasive procedure, with alternatives such as crowns and veneers, part of the tooth is permanently removed. For composite bonding to be applied, the surface of the tooth only has to be roughened to help the resin to bond, meaning the structure of the tooth remains intact.
Composite bonding can make cosmetic improvements to your smile quickly, without causing further damage to your teeth, and can be a cheaper alternative to crowns or veneers.
